He&#039;s right, in that we need to also focus on how to make average people better rather than exclusively on how to make dysfunctional people average. 

I agree with Martin that a meaningful life is a happy life. I find that I&#039;m happiest when I&#039;m helping others in some way. 

Nevertheless, I believe that gratitude plays a much larger role in happiness. 

For example, whenever I practice gratitude by thanking God for the blessings in my life, large or small, I immediately feel happy! 

It doesn&#039;t matter how gloomy I initially feel. Practicing gratitude pulls me out of the gloomiest mood.</description>
